Question #1:

My 5yr old female husky/boxer mix keeps attacking my new female pitbul puppy?

I need some help. I have a 5yr old female husky/boxer mix and a 2yr old male doberman that are outside dogs. About 3 weeks ago I got a new female 3 month old pitbul puppy. Everything seemed good and happy. Then the other morning my adult female started attacking the puppy and the then the male dog joined in and the puppy was screaming and crying. she now has a few scabs on her head and under her neck from what I call bullying. I took her to the vet to get her 2nd set of shots and when i brought her back home and was carrying her into the back yard and put her down, both dogs instantly starting attacking her all over again. it was just awful. they wouldn't stop and i was pulling them off her and they just wouldn't listen to me. they finally quit after a few minutes of yelping from the puppy. everytime i go outside to play with them, feed them and change their water, the puppy gets attacked again. i don't understand what i am doing wrong or why they keep doing this to her. on the other hand at night i watch them play from the window and it's all good. this morning when feeding them the adult female started to go after the puppy but left her alone after she saw i had the food. she was okay once i show the adult attention first then give it to the puppy. the puppy won't even come to me now in fear of being attacked by my adult dogs. what can I do to fix this or will it just work itself out in time. Please i need help, it just breaks my heart to see the puppy in pain and scared. I am afraid they will kill her. It just looks so viscous!!! Please help!!

Question #2:

DOG DIED. MOM WANTS REPLACE HER...already?

MY beautiful, precious lil bichon died wednesday night.
i miss her so much!
some ppl say it was jus a dog BUT she was truly a family member
she went on ALL of our vacations. even if we just went down the road to pick up fast food she was always with us.
but after 9 years she passed.

yesterday my mom was saying she wants to buy me a yorkie. i have been wanting one for long time. yesterday i was completly broken hearted. i still can't say her name without crying.

long story short for ppl that have had dogs pass...when did they get another one. i'm certainly not lookng to replace my baby girl...

i love, love, love dogs. i jus dunno if i can go through heartbreak of losing another one.
i mean i know it would be 10 yr down the road...

idk i'm rambing so
WHEN YOUR DOG DIED WHEN DID YOU FEEL OK GETTING ANOTHER ONE?

Question #3:

Animal cruelty and testing?

Why is it even needed? Animal testing is just sick and wrong:

With medice, the animals are different then humans, it doesn't give accurate results and believing those tests can lead to more death. It would be better to do all testing on murders, rapists and other such scum.

For candy, wtf do animals have to do with candy anyway? Its a known fact that animals mostyl dogs and cats, are poisoned by chocolate, so forcing them to eat it is torture. THen make them swim in paint just to be dissected? IT ISN'T EVEN REQUIRED BY LAW! Their just being cruel for fun now.

Fur, how could this cruelty STILL be going on? Dumping live animals in boinling water just for some FUR?! Wtf. Fur from when you had to go kill animals for food and the fur was warm, I can see that and I support that if you kill get the most out of it. So why breed foxes just for their fur? Its wrong and should be banned.

Make up, wtf connection does make up have with animals? I really don't know much about this topic, so I don't know how it hurts the animals, and I don't know why people use them in the first place? Make sure the lipstick isn't too bright? Wtf?

I personally prefer free range hunting to the way animals are treated now, but thats a lesser issue compared to these cruel things.
Like someone said

"ask a scientist why they test on animals and they reply, "because their like us" ask the same one why they don't test on humans instead and they reply "because animals aren't like us" justification for animal testing relies on a contradiction"

Question #6:

How much food should a dog eat per day?

I have a 2 year old medium sized golden retriever female. I was just wondering how much dog food a dog should eat per day.

Question #7:

What should I feed my dog?

I'm getting a puppy soon (a papillon) and I'm trying to settle on what food to feed her in the long term. I've read a lot of conflicting stories from various sources telling me to feed her Iams, Purina, Pedigree, James Wellbeloved or another brand. I've also read a lot from people saying I should cook my own dog food, or feed her raw food, though the 'cook-your-own' and raw food information tends to be slightly overshadowed by the anti-capitalist conspiracy theory language many of the websites use.

So, can anyone tell me what's best and most economical to feed her?

Question #8:

what is a good quality dog food to feed a saint bernard?

SAINT OWNERS ONLY PLEASE (what do you feed you'r saints?) !! I have heard blue buffalo is good but i'm not sure!! we are getting a puppy soon and it helps!

Question #10:

Dog appetite question- thoughts?

So, Remi's decided not to eat his kibble. This is the third day I've noticed it, and he's eating a it, but not like his stereotypical labrador self. I will take him to the vet if this goes on much longer, but for now, I'm trying to solve this problem on my own. I haven't taken him yet because he has no other symptoms. Good energy, lively, regular bowel movements, firm stool, drinking an average amount of water. He'll also eat cat food or scraps, so I know it's not just lack of appetite.

He's also an only dog right now, but used to living with a dominant dog who I think got him into the habit of eating his food more quickly- if he didn't Jack would try to take it. I'm not sure if that's part of the problem, but it may be.

My next step is to try to find another kibble and see how he feels about it. If he scarfs that down, then I know there's something off with the variety I'd been using. If he won't touch that, then we need ot see the vet. I'm reluctant to give him wet food, because I don't want to make that a habit- I've seen dogs fed only wet who've had extremely poor teeth.

I also plan to start on raw, but I don't move into my new apartment (WITH A GARAGE!!) until the middle of next month.

Any good suggestions? Any food that you could recommend for this? He needs high calorie, higher protein food because he's a very energetic, very active young labrador and tends toward being lean.

Thanks!
Thanks for all the good suggestions! I went to the pet store just now and bought a small bag of ProPlan Selects- 1st three ingredients: Salmon, Barley, Chicken and 27% protein. I filled him a bowl for dinner and he wolfed it down like he normally does. You guys were right, it seems like I just got a bad bag.

Also, I called Purina, and I know most people on here don't approve of them, but a person answered on the first ring (no menus), was very friendly, listened to my concerns, and is sending me a coupon for a free 50lb bag of food and a few $2 off any product coupons. I've consistently had good results with their food until now, and I have to say, their service couldn't have been better.

Thanks for the good advice!

Question #11:

What can you tell me about feeding dogs raw food?

I want to switch my four-month-old pit bull/German shepherd puppy (who is allergic to grain) from Nutro to an all raw diet or maybe raw food with some kibble.
Any information is appreciated as I know nothing about feeding raw food. I didn't even know you could do this until last night.
Menus, amount, type of food, price, etc.
Thank you!

Question #13:

is my vet trying to scam me?

k this is my first dog and i got her from the humane society a year ago and she came with all her shots and everything (shes 3 yrs old now). so a couple of weeks ago i took her to a vet. id never been there before and it looked really crappy on the outside and it was sort of in the getto. anyways he gave my dog her yearly shot. then he convinced me to get the 'kennel cough' shot. then he told me shes 3lbs overweight and tried to get me to buy his special diet food for dogs (but i didnt). and i really dont think shes overweight. then he told me that she should get a blood test done for heartworm. is this true? im not sure if this is normal because it was my first time at the vet and i think im gonna switch vets anyways. do all dogs get heartworm tests every year?

Question #14:

My dog has been moaning a lot. WHY? :(?

My dog LOVES to be outside. He almost lives outside. He spends most of his day outside cause he loves the outdoors. He comes in to eat and sleep but not to stay. When he goes outside in our fenced yard, he won't go back inside. So we leave him outside. So a few hours later, he starts moaning for no reason. I bring him food and water but he refuses it and still won't come in. Is something wrong with him? Is he depressed? Does he not want to live with us? Question #16:

Is it ok for my dog to eat raw hot dogs?

My dog ran out of dog food and we only go shopping for groceries twice a week so I gave my dog our last hot dog... The brand was Oscar Mayor and I was wondering if he'll be okay. Nothing is going on with him no loose stools and he's not vomiting. Its been 4 hrs since he ate it and his last bowel movement was about 3 hrs ago and it was probably food he ate before.

Is he going to be ok? Because he never had an uncooked hot dog before. Please help. Thanks.

Question #18:

female rottweiler ..family pet?

hi we are looking into getting a female rottweiler puppy to join our family.
we have 3 cats, 2 guinea pigs and a fish. I have a very animal friendly 2 year old daughter.
I am in all day and my partner works...we have a front and back garden. The front garden will be free rein for the pup..same as my next door neighbours dog.
We have a local park with an enclosed area for pups to meet and greet.
Do you have any tips for raising a happy well rounded rottweiler as a family pet (indoor). I.E food, type of toys , lengths of walks etc
i am aware of needing stronge training and leadership...i had a male rottie growing up and understand how to become pack leader. I fully intend to have her in a training class and socialised hence finding my local puppy meet and greet
i am not able to have more children so the child i have is it..i do not see that being unmarried affects me raising a solid family dog.
Everybody has their own opinions and i am not going to tell them its right or wrong as it is their opinion...personally i would not have a rescue dog till my daughter was older and most rescues round here say the same thing...my daughter has been brought up round her nans dog and other family members dogs and her other pets and is extremely careful with animals and they all trust her.

he is a full grown 3 year old golden retriever and he keeps eating sticks and twigs. i don't know whats wrong with him. he's on a decent diet and is never overfed. he always chews up his dog toys.. even ones that are really durable but i can't afford really strong dog toys that are around $17. he appears to be spitting some pieces out and swallowing some. is this bad for his digestive tract?

Question #20:

If a person regurgitates food to a dog, Is it considered a dominant or submissive act?

But i am saying if a person spits in a dogs mouth or does anything like regurguitating, what is this seen as?

I KNOW This question is revolting. I have a curious mind. Don't answer with "Gross!!!" or "Eww! Your're disgusting!"
