Question: What is an average weight for a 14 week old calico female kitten?

( Back )

Answer #1:

About five pounds

Dogs like cat food, it has more fat keep your dog in another room if possible

She might just be little because it sounds to me like she was the runt(smallest of the litter)

I really hoped i helped you my best buddy

Answer #2:

1.) A kitten generally gains 1 lb a month (until they are 6 month old) so you kitten should be around 3.5lbs
2.) I have a baby gate and made a gap on the bottom big enough so my cat can fit under but small enough the dog can get through. When you kitten is bigger she'll be able to jump the gate.
3.) Every cat is different, there are big cat and petite cats that are 7,8,9 lbs full grown

Answer #3:

1) average weight.. well generally about 2.5-3lbs
2) put her in a room and close the door, or get a baby gate and put it in a room that she can get in and the dog can't
3) because some cats are small.

One of my cats is a foster kitten who refused to put on weight like her siblings. I had eight kittens in that litter and they all made weight "on time" but she was still half a pound behind them. Keeping her until she put on weight was a mistake because we fell in love with her and ended up adopting her. Now three years later she is still only five pounds. Some cats are just small. As long as your kitty is active and happy I am sure she is fine.

Deworming is pretty standard, as almost all kittens have worms. It is just the way life is. If you can get a stool sample, most vets will test it at any point after seeing the kitten. Call and check and see if they don't mind you running one down the next time you are able to get one. There are several different types of internal parasites, and most deworming medication only takes care of round worms which are the most popular.

Just so you know, dry food is pretty low quality food. If you are interested in getting her the optimal nutrition for her optimal health, check out Click Here a web site run by a vet who actually studies feline nutrition. Most vets don't just as most human doctors don't and refer you to a nutritionist when you have questions about diet. Most vets rely on the nutritionists employeed by the pet food manufactures that they do business with (which of course are going to recommend their products)

Answer #4:

She is a bit on the light side, but not all that terrible. At eight weeks, typically they are 2 pounds, and then a pound a month increase. But that increase will be in spurts, not in a straight line, since she may settle into being 6-10 pounds by the time she is a year old, depending on body type.

My youngest calico kitty was under 5 pounds at 4 1/2 months, and now is a bit over 8 pounds at over two years of age.

Try to keep the dog from eating the kitten chow. It is too much for him, and she needs it more. As to how, perhaps putting the food inside a box that your dog cannot stick his head into.

Some cats are destined to remain lightweights. It doesn't mean there is something wrong. But since she was a rescue, I suspect eliminating the worms will have a positive impact. Most rescue kittens have worms. Be sure to do the follow up fecal test as suggested by the vet, since sometimes it can take two doses.

Answer #5:

The average weight of a kitten that age is 3.5 pounds but average is just average. Could be she is going to be a small cat just as some adult humans are 4'10" and 90 pounds.

Stop leaving the kitten's food where the dog can get at it. Put it where she can leap but the dog cannot reach.

In three weeks she has gained 1/2 pound. She is gaining a little more slowly than most kittens.
It is possible she has parasites. If so, she will probably gain weight faster when she is clear of them.

I would not feed her dry food at all but four meals a day of premium canned food, as much as she will eat per meal. Wet food is much better for cats. Try that, feeding her in the bathroom so the dog can neither get at her food nor bother her.

As long as she is healthy and gaining weight you have nothing to worry about.
