Question #1:
.
Hi all:
I have an 8-1/2 year old Israeli Canaan male dog.
He started coughing about a year or so ago maybe about once a week. For the past three weeks or so he's been doing it about two or three times a week - just one cough (or like something is stuck in his throat) once a day, three times a week, and last week he did it a couple of times during the night.
He was also panting a lot last week.
He is also itchy, but he doesn't scratch, rather he 'bites' at himself with his front teeth maybe about three of four times a day, but he has no fleas, no signs of fleas, or rashes at all.
The vet gave him antibiotics and cough medicine (for kennel cough) which he has been on for about four days and the panting has pretty much stopped unless he's been running or something, but the itching has continued, and yesterday I didn't give him the cough medicine just to see what would happen (since I don't believe it is kennel cough) and sure enough he coughed twice last night.
He tested negative for heartworms; he eats 2 times a day, and he eats well (although he farts sometimes and they are pretty stinky) and although occasionally he seems a little lethargic, he seems in good spirits.
Lastly, he is pretty aggressive with people he doesn't know, and the vet I normally take him to just sold his practice to another vet and they had difficulty examining him so a thorough exam was impossible, although they did listen to his heart and lungs (and did the heartworm test and brought him current on his vaccinations) and say they (heart and lungs) sound fine.
He's always been very healthy so I am pretty concerned. Does anyone have any ideas of what may be wrong?
Thanks!
.

Question #8:
how do you explain Matthew 15:22-26
22 And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.”
23 But He answered her not a word.
And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.”
24 But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
25 Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”

Question #10:
I want a dog that is really good with people, very loyal, and still is very good with other dogs. Which of these is most like that?...
Alaskan Malimute
Belgian Malinois
Canaan
Siberian Husky
Thanks! :)
Question #11:
Have fun!
For me it is:
Sporting ~ I like Labrador Retrievers. I think Gordon Setters are gorgeous. I like them all, not into one of them in special.
Hound ~ I like the good ol' American Foxhound.
Working ~ I think Alaskan Malamutes are awesome but would never own one.
Terrier ~ Love 'em all! LOL. My favourites are both JRT and the Parson, Fox Terrier and of course the APBT.
Toy ~ Not a big fan. If I had to choose, Yorkshire Terrier.
Non-Sporting ~ Dalmatians. Chows. Sometimes.
Herding ~ I think Canaan Dogs are nice. I also like Aussies.
What about you?
@ ScottieDog: Don't get your note, guess that means I'm a dumb@ss.
Wow, that was pretty stupid (my last add). Sorry. I'm pissed at something else.
Question #12:
-I want one that is generally friendly but can be aggressive if there is a real threat
-One that is loyal and social, not too independent
-I can exercise it for 1 - 2 hours a day
-Not too difficult to train
Which of these matches best? Even if none are a perfect match just whichever comes the closest.
Airedale
Akita
Bull Terrier
Canaan Dog
Chow Chow
Scotch Collie
Doberman
Rottweiler
Question #13:
Any body know about how much they are?..Not trying to get one, I'm just curious
i know you can't give a specific price for any breed, but i mean a price range. Theres always a price range.
Question #14:
My family and I have been thinking about getting a dog for ages. Generally a medium to large dog who is active, but the most important thing is that they get along with cats (by 'get along with cats' I mean do they have a low prey drive - we would train them to be good with them when the dog is a puppy!).
We have 3 cats, one which is bigger than a lot of small dogs - a NFC (norwegian forest cat), another which is a moggie and is medium sized (also 16 years old, but not showing it), and finally a ragdoll cat.
We would get the dog at a puppy from a very respectable breeder, take to training classes, excersize at least 1 hour a day on weekdays, 3-4 at least on weekends, the dog wouldn't be left alone as would go to my mum and dads workplace (which is fine with my dad who owns it), and may only be left alone for 3 hours tops.
We're a family of 3 who loves animals and love going to National trust properties.
So do you think a canaan is right for us? It will be my first dog, but my parents have had dogs before.
Thanks!
Question #15:
And behold a woman of Canaan came ... and cried unto him saying, have mercy on me ... my daughter is seriously possessed with a devil.
But he answered her not a word.
And his disciples came and begged him, saying. Send her away: for she crieth after us.
But he answered and said, I am Not Sent But Unto The Lost Sheep Of The House Of Israel.
But she came and knelt before him, saying. Lord, help me.
But he answered her and said, It is Not Fair To Take The Children's Bread And Cast It To The Dogs.
(HOLY BIBLE) Matthew 15:22-26
Mark 7.26 says that the woman was a Greek.
further proofs that Jesus was only for Jews.
These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them saying,
Go ye not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go ye rather unto The Lost Sheep Of The House Of Israel.
(HOLY BIBLE) Matthew 10:5-6
"when the son of man (Jesus pbuh referring to himself) shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye (the disciples) also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel" (Matthew 19: 28).
i think you people hv not read the verses clearly, On the day of Judgment, Jesus will sit on thrown and next to him will be sitting only 12 tribes of Jews.....don't spread Christianity to other than Jews, as they don' hv place near Jesus thrown...the verse is too clear.
Question #16:
?
Question #17:
I've seen Cesar(Dog Whisperer) use them on big breeds like Rottweilers and then some herding dogs...
Will it tire him out more, or help keep him focused on the path and keep him mentally stimulated?
Thanks,
Georgie needs something more 'cause 3 mile walks aren't keeping him satisfied. : P
Question #18:
Many I know are not ant-semetic. All are Gods creation and all Jews all of Ham's Sons and Gentiles have access to the tree of life in Yeshua(Jesus who gave his life for the whole world) Ya Digg
Here is some info from wikepedia to put in some Jewish thinking about blacks:
Early Jewish interpretations
-"The Torah assigns no racial characteristics or rankings to Ham. Moses married a Cushite, one of the reputed descendants of Ham, according to the Book of Numbers, Chapter 12. Despite this, a number of early Jewish writers have interpreted the Biblical narrative of Ham in a racial way. The Babylonian Talmud, Sanhedrin 108b states "Our Rabbis taught: Three copulated in the ark, and they were all punished — the dog, the raven, and Ham. The dog was doomed to be tied, the raven expectorates [his seed into his mate's mouth], and Ham was smitten in his skin." {Talmud Bavli, Sanhedrin 108b} The nature of Ham's "smitten" skin is unexplained, but later commentaries described this as a darkening of skin. A later note to the text states that the "smitten" skin referred to the blackness of descendants, and a later comment by rabbis in the Bereshit Rabbah asserts that Ham himself emerged from the ark black-skinned.[4][5] The Zohar states that Ham's son Canaan "darkened the faces of mankind".[6]
Rashi, the main medieval Jewish commentator on Torah, explains the harshness of the curse: "Some say Cham saw his father naked and either sodomized or castrated him. His thought was "Perhaps my father's drunkenness will lead to intercourse with our mother and I will have to share the inheritance of the world with another brother! I will prevent this by taking his manhood from him! When Noah awoke, and he realized what Cham had done, he said, "Because you prevented me from having a fourth son, your fourth son, Canaan, shall forever be a slave to his brothers, who showed respect to me!"
Another notable medieval Jewish commentator on Torah, Abraham ibn Ezra, disagrees with Rashi: "And the meaning of '[Cursed be Canaan, he will be a slave] unto his brothers' is to Cush, Egypt, and Put [only], for they are his father's [other] sons. And there are those who say that the Cushim [black skinned people] are slaves because Noah cursed Ham [the father of Cush], but they forget that the first king after the flood was a descendant of Cush, and so it is written, 'And the beginning of his kingdom was Babylonia.-" (Wikipedia site curse of Ham)
Wouldn't some Blacks be offended by these non Torah/Biblical interpretations?
Shouldn't these teachings be considered as anti-black?
Wikipedia site futher mentions how Christians adopted and used some of this rhetoric to justify enslaving the west coast people of Africa. God is love and we only know love if we know him. Just as he freed Jews from slavery He did the same for Blacks. In Bedeshit (Genisis) 24:12-14 Father Abraham's eldest servant which ruled over all that he had (including younger servants) was over his goods. He was trusted and loyal and was asked to go to find Isaac a wife outside of the land of Canaan. This servant prayed to God and God spoke to him regarding rebekkah. He was not stuck in pickin cotton all his life fo ole Masa' Abraham. Ya see!
He had a son with and Egyptian Hagar and when sent out into the wilderness away from the son of promise Isaac God was still merciful and created a well for her and her son. (Genisis 21)
So God speaks to, sees, listen to and Loves servants or slaves because they are still His creation. Why mankind distorted servanthood into hatred even of a darker skinned people through history is not Torah based or Biblical based.
So to Blacks of any national origin who are anti-semitic (Yeshua) Jesus says
Matthew 5:44 (King James Version)
44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Love your enemies Bless those who persecute you
or "Can't we all just get along" -Rodney King
Question #19:
I heard that all herding dogs are essentially shepherds. I thought shepherds were sheep herders, so then cattle dogs wouldn't be in the genre. What do you think? I own a Canaan/collie mix and a heeler/collie mix and someone used the specific word shepherd to describe them, rather than just calling them herders. Is this accurate? If not, then what exactly is the difference?
I looked the word up in the dictionary and it states "shepherd -N. one who herds, tends, and guards sheep." So, cattle dogs and dogs meant to herd other livestock are, by defintion, not shepherds.
Question #20:
There is a lot of breeds I'm interested in. Though I'm not quite sure which I'm going to go after.
First let me tell you a little about myself and how much I'm willing to put into the dog so you can have a better decision:
I'm moving onto 5 acres with a 7 foot high fence and a river going through it. I also run for atleast half an hour a day, I get a little bored doing it by myself so I'm sure a dog would help me push myself. I've handled dogs before, we're talking a Lab/Akita/Rott mix and a chow. Then I've 'pet sitted' plenty of my friends dogs. I used to breed cats, no not BYB. Pedigree Birmans with papers (I hear lots of bitching about BYB and don't want people to think I'm another irresponsible pet owner). Uhmm. I go hiking with my dad a lot, so my new dog will be invited o. course. I currently have 3 cats. I'm taking online courses this year so I'll be very dedicated to my new pup. Though to be on the safe side I have a 42 inch crate that holds up to 140lb I think. Since most of the breeds I like are hyper and chew things up and have separation anxiety (depending on the owner~).
I really do not care if it's a mix breed. Though, I'm kinda the jealous. I don't want a slut dog like Labs. ):< (sorry if I'm offending any of you LOL) I don't want my dog to get attached to anyone except me.
But I really can't think of anything else. Soyeah. I'll just jot down the breeds I'm interested in.
Karelian Bear Dog
Belgian Malinois
Akita
Malamute
Siberian Husky
Dutch Shepherd
Doberman
GSD mix
Kai Dog/Kai Ken
Jindo
Canaan
+ feel free to suggest any breeds.
And I live in Washington so if you could link me to some breeders that would be great. (:
I'am picky with appearance.. :< I don't like floppy ears.
and omg G!
I'am really leaning towards KBD's. I was supposed to get one this September but the sale on my house fell through and the buyer couldn't get the loan!
I was going to get a pup from:
I love the Canaan, they would probably be my first choice but they're really hard to find. Most of the breeds I've fallen for are rare, or expensive.
sighh. this is so hard. I'm tied between cute little puppy faces. That and waiting. Pressssssure.

The pet food recall scared us into making our own dog food at home for Blacky and Yeti. We did alot of research into dog nutrition requirements and went through alot of trial and error trying out new recipes for the dogs - seeing what they liked and what they didn't. We ended up with quite a few super yummy recipes. Our friends begged us to share the recipes with them and we realized there were probably lots of other dog owners out there that would love to try these dog food recipes out on their dogs too! So, 123 DogFood.com came into being. It really is as easy as 1-2-3.
